Work Group on Auto Insurance Affordability

Dear Marie Grant, Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration, and members of the Work Group on Auto Insurance Affordability:

As a resident of Maryland, I am signing onto this petition in strong support of a final report that would bring auto insurance rates down for Marylanders.

It is a problem if a product like auto insurance is legally required for drivers but priced in a way that working people cannot afford to comply with the law. We call on the HB1098 Work Group on Auto Insurance Affordability to include critical recommendations in their final report that would:

Create a low-cost auto insurance plan.
Prohibit the use of credit as an auto insurance rate factor.
Reduce the use of zipcodes to rate insurance.
Ban CEO excessive compensation, lobbying and other costs from being passed on to customers.

Thank you for producing a report that will provide real relief to Marylanders.
