Maryland Insurance Administration: Reject Another Insurance Rate Increase
Big health insurance companies are proposing yet another rate increase for Marylanders with individual healthcare plans on the state’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurance marketplace.
This is the third year in a row that large health insurance companies have asked for rate increases – and our state has approved the last two. Enough is enough.
As the insurance companies asking for a rate increase rake in millions or billions in profits, families across Maryland are facing an affordability crisis – living paycheck to paycheck, and many are falling behind. Nobody should have to choose between healthcare coverage and other increasingly expensive basic necessities like groceries and rent.
If approved, these rate increases would mean that over 280,000 hard-working Marylanders would pay at least $1,300 more for health insurance than they were three years ago. Maryland must act to make our Affordable Care Act coverage actually affordable. Denying this rate increase is a crucial first step.
Tell the Maryland Insurance Administration to reject health insurance companies' proposed rate increase! Act now - comments are due by Friday, July 17th at 5pm.
